Biography
Gene Avey, originally
from Iowa, has been described as a respected and talented artist.
He has been playing the guitar for over 43 years. Gene is the
International CMA Modern Country Male Vocalist of the Year for
2008 - 2009; the Cambridge Who's Who Winner of 2010; and voted
one of the Top 50 Guitar Players in the World by the International
Music Community.
Gene has had several
hits: his debut single, The Way It Used to Be (1986); Far Away
(1992); and the Somebody Better CD (2008) - which had the singles
Beer Bottle Brown) and Defenseless. Beer Bottle Brown was the
number one song for several weeks overseas (Europe, Russia, Australia).
The Somebody Better CD was responsible for Gene receiving the
International CMA Award in 2008 & 2009.
During his music career, Gene has founded & played with many
bands. Gene founded the Country Illusions in 1974 and brought
them back again in 2010. He has played with such notable artists
as: The Bellamy Brothers, Foghat, Bob Seger, Ricky Skaggs, Merle
Haggard, Marvin Rainwater, Bobby Hamilton, and Highway 101.
Gene Avey and The Country
Illusions are working on their new CD, "Race On", which
has 3 songs written by Gene Avey. This CD will be a combination
of Country and Rock - something for everyone!! The group is looking
forward to getting out and playing the songs off this new CD as
well as the songs from the Somebody Better CD that made Gene the
"star" that he continues to be overseas.
The band includes:
Larry Jefferson (steel guitar); Mike Davis (drums); Tim Cadiere
(rhythm guitar); Mike Gibbs (piano); and Mel Chapman (bass guitar).

a variety of famous people
